This project focused on designing a welcoming entrance hall for a modern family home in Leeds. The objective was to create a calm and elegant arrival space that sets the tone for the rest of the residence while remaining practical for everyday use.

The original concept required an entrance that felt open and balanced while accommodating circulation to the main living areas of the home. The challenge was to introduce architectural interest and seating without interrupting the natural flow of movement through the space.

The design approach centred around the staircase as the focal architectural feature of the entrance hall. Symmetrical built-in seating was introduced on both sides of the staircase to create a sense of balance while also providing a comfortable place to sit when entering or leaving the home. To enhance the architectural presence of the staircase, a decorative wall treatment was introduced behind it. The soft floral wall pattern adds visual depth and character while maintaining the calm and refined palette used throughout the residence.

Material selections were kept warm and timeless. Natural wood tones, soft neutral finishes, and subtle textures create a welcoming atmosphere, while integrated lighting within the seating elements adds warmth and depth to the space. Lighting was carefully considered to enhance the overall atmosphere of the entrance. Soft ambient lighting and table lamps create a warm and inviting first impression while highlighting the architectural elements within the hall.
