This project focused on creating a spacious open-plan kitchen and living area for a modern family home in Leeds. The objective was to design a space where cooking, dining, and relaxing could happen naturally within one connected environment while still maintaining a sense of organisation and balance.

The original concept required a layout that could support everyday family life while also functioning comfortably when hosting guests. The challenge was to create clear zones within the open-plan layout so the kitchen, dining, and living areas felt connected but not visually overwhelming. The design approach centred around strong spatial planning and clear zoning. A large central island and dining table were introduced as the anchor of the kitchen space, creating a natural social hub for both food preparation and informal dining.

To maintain balance within the open-plan layout, the living area was positioned to create a comfortable conversation space while still allowing clear circulation through the room. This ensures the space feels open and connected without disrupting the natural flow of movement. Material choices were kept warm and timeless. Soft neutral cabinetry, marble textures, and natural wood tones work together to create a calm and sophisticated atmosphere, while brass accents introduce subtle warmth and elegance.

Lighting was layered to enhance the different zones within the room. Statement pendant lighting highlights the dining area, while architectural lighting and wall features add depth and atmosphere throughout the space.
